B. Braun donates EUR40,000 to help disadvantaged children in Malaysia
Donation in aid of Spina Bifida Association Malaysia, Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association and St. Nicholas Home, Penang
Thanks to the efforts of all B. Braun employees, including BMI and BMS employees, who contributed their running kilometres to the B. Braun Asia Pacific Virtual Charity Run 2021 earlier this year, B. Braun in Malaysia was able to support three charity organisations in the country, with a donation of close to EUR40,000 (RM196,000). Benefitting from the donations were:
- Spina Bifida Association Malaysia (SIBIAM), a non-profit organisation that looks after the interest of children and adults with Spina Bifida and its related disorders. The donation will go a long way in helping people with Spina Bifida realise an active and independent life as members of the community;
- Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA), a non-profit organisation that supports children suffering from Lysosomal Storage Disease (LSD), whom often experience developmental delay, movement disorders, seizures, dementia, deafness and/or blindness; and
- St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang, a non-profit organisation that provides early intervention programs to deaf, blind and multi-handicapped children, as well as teaching them cognitive, communication and daily life skills.
Presenting the donation to MLDA and St. Nicholas’ Home, on behalf of B. Braun Medical Industries, was Mr. Lam Chee Hong, President of B. Braun Asia Pacific, while receiving on behalf MLDA was Ir. Lee Yee Seng, MLDA President and founding member; and receiving on behalf of St. Nicholas Penang was Ms. Carmen Chew, Acting General Manager.
