B. Braun reconstructs school in Nepal

The devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on 25 April 2015 caused a death toll of more than 8,000 people.

The earthquake has also caused massive damages to homes, buildings, roads and other infrastructure.

To support the reconstruction of the Shree Janakalyan Secondary School in Srinathkot-Gorkha, B. Braun Melsungen raised €35,000 from employees and the amount was matched by the Management Board. Funds were channeled to the 2-year reconstruction project through Kinderhilfswerk Global-Care Germany.

On 21 May 2018, the completed school building was inaugurated by the Honourable Ram Saran Basnet, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development, Mr Georg Johannes Frank, Chairperson of Kinderhilfswerk Global-Care Germany, Mr Sumit Saha and Mr Abhijit Kumar Roy, representatives from B. Braun.

Located at a mountain village with a population of 20,000, the school is able to accommodate 480 students and has two storage buildings. Prior to the reconstruction, the students had their studies in the open air on a temporary basis  The new school received recognition from the Nepalese government, and were greeted by smiles from the local villagers.
