B. Braun Vietnam wins award for energy efficiency

B. Braun received second prize in the Vietnam Energy Efficiency Industry Awards 2017 from the Vietnam Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Association (VECEA) and the German Development Cooperation Organisation (GIZ) in Hanoi on 31 January 2018.

B. Braun Vietnam clinched the award based on its energy saving and efficiency initiatives:

  • Using tap water instead of cold water to cool down the compressor system.
  • Turning off the entire water heater system of the plant and using hot water from the cooling tower.
  • Modification of the installation design to remove the ventilator system for the VRV Daikin central air conditioning system.
  • Renovation of lighting system - installed energy saving lights, reduced the lighting in auxiliary rooms and in other areas when not in use.
  • Installation of sensors and timer for lighting system.

The award is part of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (4E) Project, implemented by the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development of MoIT, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It creates a platform for promoting energy efficiency solutions in the country, and encourage the business community to carry out energy efficiency solutions leading to increased business performance and environmental protection.

The award ran from 20 November 2017 until end of January 2018. All industrial enterprises operating in Vietnam, with energy efficiency initiatives implemented during 2011 to 2016 and an annual energy consumption from 300 TOE, were eligible to apply.
