Askina® DresSil Active Sacrum
Adhesive silicone multilayer dressing with border
Askina® DresSil Active Sacrum is a sacrum multilayer silicone dressing with border designed to provide active exudate management.
Its multilayer structure improves exudate retention and absorption while maintaining the adequate moisture level in the wound1. This may reduce the frequency of dressing changes, thereby saving nursing time and allowing more time to be dedicated to patients and their care2.
Askina® DresSil Active Sacrum is designed for a wide range of exuding wounds such as:
- Pressure ulcers
- Leg and foot ulcers
- Traumatic wounds (e.g. skin tears)
- Surgical wounds
It can also be used on dry/necrotic wounds in combination with gels. The dressing may also be used as part of a prophylactic therapy to help prevent skin damage, e.g. pressure ulcers.
Material
Askina® DresSil Active Sacrum, thanks to its multilayer structure, is designed to offer effective exudate management of chronic wounds:
- Layer 1: Semi-transparent film with 1 cm apart dots for the Active Exudate Monitoring System
- Layer 2: Superabsorbent layer to absorb and lock in exudate
- Layer 3: Exudate distribution layer to facilitate quick exudate movement from the foam to the superabsorbent layer
- Layer 4: Thin foam layer that enables vertical absorption while maintaining a moist environment conducive to wound healing
- Layer 5: Silicone layer to provide secure fixation while conforming to body contours
Advantages
- Active Time Saving: Askina® DresSil Active Sacrum provides higher absorption than other silicone dressings, which may help it stay in place longer and reduce dressing changes—potentially saving nursing time and improving efficiency1,2.
- Active Pressure Redistribution: specifically designed to enhance pressure redistribution¬, making them suitable as part of a prophylactic strategy aimed at preventing skin damage, including pressure ulcers1
- Active Pain Reduction: Askina® DresSil Active Sacrum can reduce pain and trauma during dressing changes thanks to its gentle adherence3. It also leaves fewer residues, which can reduce the need for peri-wound skin cleansing4
- Active Exudate Monitoring: The exudate level and color can be an indicator of wound bed conditions5. The Active Exudate Monitoring System allows to track both without removing the dressing for inspection, thereby promoting undisturbed wound healing and cost savings6.
Material
Askina® DresSil Sacrum is composed of four layers:
- Layer 1: Outer polyurethane film
- Layer 2: Tie layer
- Layer 3: Absorbent polyurethane foam
- Layer 4: Silicone adhesive
