Life in our Hands

When life is in our hands

It is a day like any other when Teresa learns that she became infected with a hospital germ during a routine operation. After that day, nothing will be the same.

In our video, Theresa represents one of millions of patients who become infected with multi-resistant hospital germs every year: 31 percent of all patients who undergo surgery share her fate. Unlike Theresa, many do not survive. According to studies by the World Health Organization (WHO), 5 to 8 million lives could be saved every year if doctors and medical personnel took the time required for proper hand hygiene.  It takes only a few seconds, but can make the difference between life and death.

Theresa shows us that life sometimes actually is in our hands.

With our video for World Hand Hygiene Day we intend to raise awareness of the fact that disinfecting one’s hands is as easy as child's play, yet is anything but trivial.
